Golf School Final Exam
Imperial Lakewoods Golf Club
Palmetto, Florida
26 April 2006

Pat Walsh, PGA Professional and golf school instructor:

Final Exam Problem:  Play the 18th hole.  Par 5.  545 yards.  Number one handicap hole on the course.

From the Imperial Lakewoods website:  "Tips from the Golf Pro: Our signature hole. Best Par 5 in Florida. Avoid water left and OB right. Landing area for second shot is tight."

Burks on the tee (psyching himself up for the final exam):

Panorama from the tee, looking down the fairway (right) and towards the green (far left, just to the left of the tall trees):

Great drive, right down the middle:

Cormorants sunning themselves by the lake (or are they saluting as Burks passed by?):

Hybrid 3-iron replacement second shot to 135 yards out (look carefully at the first photo - you can see the ball in the fairway, to the right of the red ball marking 100 yards from the green):

7-iron third shot onto the green:

View from the green back toward the fairway (tee just behind flag):

First putt (uphill) hit the left edge of the cup and lipped out:

Second putt found the bottom of the cup:

Final grade:  Burks passes with a par 5!
